Modern Languages

Our philosophy of education:

  • Supporting high-quality learning while giving individual students the opportunity to choose programs that suit their skills and interests;
  • Recognizing that the needs of learners are diverse in an ever-changing global community;
  • Regular group discussions about their learning, exchanging ideas and comparing their experiences is an integral part of the students learning in the classrooms.

Our Strategies:

Multiple opportunities and well-organized lessons that support a strategic balance between listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through each course enabling the students to develop their skills and confidence.

In addition to the best teaching practice throughout our various programs and inspired from the most updated authentic resources, all staff prepare the students to DELF examination upon graduation.

What is DELF?

The Diplôme d’études en langue française (DELF) is an internationally recognized test of French proficiency. It is based on the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR), which defines language proficiency along six global levels: A1, A2, B1, B2, C1 and C2. At each level, proficiency is measured across four competencies: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. The French Ministry of National Education awards successful candidates a diploma that is valid for life.

Why taking the DELF exam?

  • Recognition of the candidate`s accomplishments to date on the path to French proficiency;
  • Represents an official document, recognized internationally, that enriches the candidate`s school or professional portfolio;
  • Recognized internationally by francophone postsecondary institutions, including a growing number in Canada.

What is Young Authors Award?

The awards celebrate the writing talents and accomplishments of students who submit short stories, poems, and nonfiction articles written.

There are three levels of competition: School, Unit, and Provincial. A collection of winning entries is published in book form each year.

Several students received the Young Authors Award from our programs and two won the provincial competition in 2019 and 2020.
