There are many great reasons to take an Arts course at RND! From fostering creativity and critical thinking to preparing for future career opportunities, the Arts offer valuable skills that extend beyond the classroom.

Arts courses provide opportunities to get involved in extracurricular activities and connect with like-minded peers.
An Arts credit is required for graduation, so taking a course early helps fulfill this requirement.
Arts courses count as senior M-level credits, which can support post-secondary applications.
Creativity is a key skill in many careers, and studying the Arts helps develop innovative thinking.

No prior experience is needed—entry-level Arts courses are open to everyone, no matter the subject!

School instruments are provided to students from the school when enrolled in a course. There are also rental options through Joe’s Mill and Long & McQuade.

MEDIA ARTS

The Media Arts program at RND allows students to explore a range of artistic technologies, including graphic design, digital painting, photography, animation, and 3D modeling. All necessary technology is provided by the school for these courses.

EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

RND offers a variety of extracurricular opportunities in the Arts, giving students a chance to showcase their creativity, collaborate with peers, and develop their talents.

The Musical: Each year, RND stages a full-scale musical, with students involved in every aspect of production—from set design and stage performance to playing in the band. Past productions have included Into the Woods, The Little Mermaid, and Little Shop of Horrors.

The Bands: RND has multiple bands open to students of all skill levels.

Junior Band (Grades 9-10) and Senior Band (Grades 10-12) perform at concerts and competitions throughout the year.
Specialty groups like Celtic Band and Jazz Band are formed based on student interest.
The Junior Band performs annually at the Canada’s Wonderland Music Festival.
The Senior Band embarks on an international trip each year, with past performances in New York, Chicago, and London.

Improv: RND’s Improv Team creates spontaneous, unscripted theatre, crafting stories in real time. The team competes annually at the Regional Improv Tournament.

Art Club: A space for students to explore their creativity, collaborate on projects, and develop their artistic skills in a supportive environment.

Choir: The RND choir performs hymns and sacred music during monthly Mass, enriching the school’s spiritual gatherings with music.

Coffeehouses: RND Coffeehouses are open-mic style events where students can audition to perform self-led musical or artistic acts. These performances take place at least once per semester, offering a platform for student talent.
